My two boys are the champions when it comes to blanket forts. Well, maybe “fort” isn’t the right word — “nest” is probably better. Every room in our house seems to have a pile of pillows and blankets in a corner, and you never know if there’s a child under all those blankets. The telltale sign is when you see the blanket rise and fall slowly — still breathing? Okay, carry on.
Honestly, I’m kind of jealous. Every so often, the boys extend an invitation and allow me to join them in their soft zones, where we read stories and play video games, and I have to say that their cushioned comfort cabanas are pretty darn amazing. I can definitely see the attraction — you just want to soak up all that warmth and never leave. Oh, and don’t get me started about when the dogs curl up on top of the blankets too!
Over time, my own recliner in the far cold corner of the living room, seems to have gained a few pillows and blankets, in an effort to try and emulate some of that coziness. Game of Thrones is definitely better when you have a warm blankie.
Do your kids make nests too, or are my kids just awesomely strange that way?

STRANGE???!!!!! quite the opposite. I’m 40 and I still make blanket forts…although now that I think about it, I don’t remember any of the girls I grew up with making them…wonder if it’s just a guy thing????
