  In The Kitchen

What You'll Need

Cookies:
4 sticks butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
4 cups flour
Rolling pin
Cookie cutters

Icing:
1 stick butter
1 box powdered (confectionery) sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Milk (as needed)

Butter Cookies

1. Mix together the butter and sugar. This works easier if the butter is softened.

2. Add the egg.

3. Gradually mix in the flour.

4. Roll out some dough with a rolling pin until it is about 1/4 inch thick. It helps to coat the rolling pin with flour to keep the dough from sticking to it.

5. Use a cookie cutter to make smallish cookies (about 1.5 inches in diameter).

6. Cook each batch at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes (lightly brown).

7. Let cookies cool slightly before icing.

Icing:

7. Cream thebutter (Mix it until creamy).

8. Add the powdered sugar and mix.

9. Add the vanilla.

10. Add the milk in very small amounts as needed for spreadable consistency.

11. Ice the cookies!

Tip:
You can add a few drops of food coloring to the icing to make different colors. Have fun decorating these delicious cookies!
