  Boredom Busters

What You'll Need

A round balloon
Safety pin
Newspaper
Bowl
2 cups of water
1 cup of flour
Tempera paints
Paint brushes

Papier-Mache Balloon Heads

1. Tear the newspaper into strips. The thinner the strips, the more tightly they will cover the balloon. This will make the balloon head turn out better.

2. Blow up the balloon.

3. Mix the flour and water together in the bowl until smooth.

4. Take a strip of newspaper and cover it in the paste. Put the newspaper strip in between 2 fingers and slide them down the newspaper strip to wipe off any extra paste.

5. Cover the balloon completely with the paste-covered newspaper strips. Make sure that there are at least 2 to 3 layers of newspaper strips. Let this dry for a couple of days.

6. When it is dry, use the safety pin to pop the balloon.

7. Use the paints and paint brushes to put a face on the balloon. Add any other accessories as desired.

8. Have fun!
