What You'll Need

One balloon for each dinosaur egg
Old newspapers
Flour
Water
Paints (tempera works well) and markers

Papier-Mache Dinosaur Egg

1. Make a simple thin glue from flour and water, by mixing 1 cup of flour into 1 cup of water until the mixture is thin and runny. Stir into 4 cups of boiling water. Simmer for about 3 minutes, then cool.

2. Tear up lots of newspaper into one-inch strips. The length of the strips does not matter.

3. To make things more fun, put a small toy in the balloon before blowing it up, as a surprise. Then blow up the balloon.

4. Dip each strip of paper into the glue and wrap it around the balloon until at least 2 layers are around the balloon. Let the egg dry overnight after each layer.

5. Let the egg dry for a few days. Then pop and remove the balloon from the inside.

6. After the egg is dry, paint it and decorate it with whatever you would like! You can then "hatch" the egg when you want to find the surprise inside!
